Jostens Implements the Applimation Informia Archive™ Solution
Producer of yearbooks and class rings uses Informia Archive to reduce data volume in Oracle® production, which will reduce the size of the development and testing environments
Chicago, IL—June 27, 2007—Applimation, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise data management solutions for packaged and custom applications, announced today that Jostens, Inc., a leading U.S. producer of yearbooks and class rings, has successfully deployed Informia Archive™ to manage its Oracle E-Business Suite Accounts Receivables and related custom modules.
With this implementation, Jostens has reduced its data volume. As Jostens continues to migrate various business units off multiple legacy systems and onto Oracle®, the production data in its Oracle environment is growing at a fast pace, which has the potential to slow system performance. Jostens installed Informia Archive to archive data from its Oracle E-Business Suite Accounts Receivables and custom AR module, and plans to do the same for its order management, shipping, cost management, inventory, work in progress, purchasing, as well as two other custom modules. Because its applications use custom tables, Jostens employed the Informia Archive MetaStudio tool to archive these tables. With the initial Informia Archive implementation complete, Jostens is benefiting from reduced active data volume. End users appreciate the ability to use the same forms to access both production and archived data.
Said Sharon Curtis, Manufacturing Applications Architect for Jostens, “Our initial implementation has proven that the archiving works very well and that we can complete each archive cycle in our predefined timeframe. We also found MetaStudio to be extremely intuitive and the Applimation Support phenomenal in helping us use Informia Archive for our custom tables.”
Applimation Informia Archive improves application performance and streamlines application upgrade processes by identifying inactive data and archiving it in online data stores that are seamlessly accessed through the Oracle E-Business Suite user interface. The Informia Archive Dashboard adds further value by enabling Oracle application administrators to continuously monitor the distribution of data and optimize application performance through proactive data archiving.
“Jostens is an excellent example of how organizations can use Informia Archive to manage the growth of structured data to improve the performance of production as well as development and testing systems,” said Bob Markese, CEO of Applimation, “Informia was designed specifically to enable clients like Jostens to manage the impact of data growth in both production and testing environments. Informia delivers robust policy-based functionality for online archiving, compliance archiving, subsetting and data privacy. As a result, organizations can increase application performance and facilitate testing and development, while ensuring the integrity of critical business information.”
